Shopperwords vs Helium 10: a Helium 10 alternative for keywords

Helium 10 is a suite of Amazon and Walmart seller tools, from $99 a month billed yearly. Shopperwords is a Chrome extension with one job: it shows the keywords buyers type, under Amazon’s search box. Pick Helium 10 for competitor keywords, rank tracking and product research. Pick Shopperwords for keyword lists, free, and search volume for less.

1.What each tool is

Helium 10

Tools for selling on Amazon and Walmart. Black Box and Xray research products. Cerebro and Magnet research keywords. Listing Builder writes listings, Keyword Tracker follows your rank, and Profits, Alerts and Inventory Management run the business. You use it in a web app and a Chrome extension, with a Helium 10 account.

Shopperwords

A Chrome extension. When you type in Amazon’s search box, it shows its own dropdown in place of Amazon’s: Amazon’s suggestions, then the words buyers type before yours and after it. It works on 22 Amazon sites, with no account. It doesn’t research products, track rank or look up competitors.

2.How keyword research works in each

Helium 10

  • Magnet: enter a seed keyword or an ASIN and get hundreds of related keywords.
  • Cerebro: enter up to 10 competitor ASINs and see the search terms that bring shoppers to them. Filter by organic rank, search volume and title density.
  • Limit: Platinum allows 100 keyword searches a month across Magnet and Cerebro. Diamond has no listed limit.
  • Search Expander: a free part of the Chrome extension. Under Amazon’s search box it shows Amazon’s suggestions, keywords after and before yours, and Smart Complete, with search volume on each. You need to log in to a Helium 10 account.

Shopperwords

  • Type a keyword on Amazon. Shopperwords asks Amazon’s autocomplete for your keyword plus each letter, and with words in front of it.
  • For “yoga mat” that gives 259 keywords as you type, or 582 with Deep Expand.
  • Free includes departments, exclude words, saved keywords and CSV export, with no daily limit.
  • Pro adds estimated monthly searches with a 12-month trend, and a builder that fills your backend Search Terms from your keywords.
  • It only works from a seed keyword. It can’t tell you which keywords a competitor’s product ranks for.

4.Price

Helium 10

  • Free plan: Helium 10’s blog lists Cerebro twice a day, 10 uses of Xray and 5 of Black Box. Its pricing page says extension access “is limited with the Free plan”.
  • Platinum: $129 a month, or $99 a month billed yearly. It includes 100 keyword searches a month.
  • Diamond: $359 a month, or $279 a month billed yearly.
  • Enterprise: from $1,499 a month, billed yearly.
  • More tracked keywords: an add-on from $19 a month.

The pricing page doesn’t mention a free trial. It says monthly plans have no long-term commitment.

Shopperwords

  • Free: no account and no time limit.
  • Pro: $6.99 a month, or $49.99 a year. It starts with a 7-day free trial, and you can ask for a refund within 30 days of any charge.

A year of Helium 10 Platinum billed yearly costs $1,188. A year of Shopperwords Pro costs $49.99. They aren’t the same product: most of that difference pays for tools Shopperwords doesn’t have.

5.When Helium 10 is the better pick

  • You want a competitor’s keywords. Cerebro shows the search terms that bring shoppers to another seller’s product. Shopperwords can’t do this.
  • You track rank. Keyword Tracker follows where your products rank for each keyword over time.
  • You’re choosing what to sell. Black Box and Xray estimate sales and find product ideas.
  • You sell on Walmart too. Cerebro, Magnet and Xray have Walmart versions.
  • You already have a Helium 10 account. Search Expander shows keywords before and after yours, with search volume, for free. It may be all you need.

6.When Shopperwords is the better pick

  • You need keywords for a title, Item Highlights and Search Terms, not a suite.
  • You don’t want an account: the free columns, Deep Expand and CSV export work without one.
  • You want search volume for $49.99 a year rather than a monthly suite plan.
  • You want a lot of keywords at once: Deep Expand gives hundreds per search, and you can export them all.

7.How to try Shopperwords

  1. Add Shopperwords to Chrome. It’s free.
  2. Open any of the 22 Amazon sites it supports and type a keyword in the search box. Amazon’s suggestions come first, then the words buyers type before and after yours.
  3. Click Deep Expand for twice as many keywords, then export them to CSV. You don’t need an account.
  4. For search volume, start Pro’s 7-day free trial from pricing. You need a card, and you can cancel in the extension’s settings.
