Shopperwords vs Keyword Tool: a keywordtool.io alternative

Keyword Tool (keywordtool.io) is a website that finds keywords for Amazon and 15 other platforms; search volume starts at $68 a month billed yearly. Shopperwords is a Chrome extension that does the same autocomplete work inside Amazon’s search box, free, with volume at $49.99 a year. Pick Keyword Tool for Google and Bing too, an API, or bulk volume. Pick Shopperwords if Amazon is all you need.

1.What each tool is

Keyword Tool

A keyword website at keywordtool.io. One account covers 16 platforms, Amazon among them, along with Google and Bing. It runs in any browser, with nothing to install. Pro plans add an API that covers Amazon, so scripts can use it too. Its MCP server, for AI agents, covers only Google and Bing so far.

Shopperwords

A Chrome extension for Amazon only. When you type in Amazon’s search box, it shows its own dropdown in place of Amazon’s: Amazon’s suggestions, then the words buyers type before yours and after it. It works on 22 Amazon sites, with no account.

2.How keyword research works in each

Both use Amazon’s autocomplete, the suggestions shoppers see as they type. The difference is where you do the work.

Keyword Tool

  • Type a seed keyword on keywordtool.io and pick an Amazon market. It adds letters and numbers to your seed and collects Amazon’s suggestions.
  • The free version lists keywords. Pro lists more, and adds estimated search volume and trends.
  • Pro also takes your own list of up to 1,000 keywords and returns their volume, and exports to CSV or Excel.
  • For Amazon, its volume numbers are modeled estimates based on clickstream signals, in its own words.

Shopperwords

  • Type a keyword in Amazon’s own search box. Shopperwords asks Amazon’s autocomplete for your keyword plus each letter, and with words in front of it.
  • Keywords appear in columns as you type: Amazon’s list, then words before and after yours. For “yoga mat” that’s 259 keywords, or 582 with Deep Expand.
  • Free includes departments, exclude words, saved keywords and CSV export.
  • Pro adds estimated monthly searches with a 12-month trend, and a builder that fills your backend Search Terms from your keywords.

  • You can’t install extensions, or work on a phone or tablet. Keyword Tool is a website.
  • You automate. Pro includes an API with Amazon data. Its MCP server covers only Google and Bing.

  • You want more history: up to 48 months on the bigger plans.

6.When Shopperwords is the better pick
